I suppose this is what it must feel like to be on the wrong side in one of those good vs. evil fantasy movies. I’m still here, one of the minions laboring in the Dark Castle, hoping that Commander Clinton pulls off a victory, but the audience in the theater can already tell where this one is going.
Yeah, it’s likely that Hillary will end up the Democratic nominee. But it’s clear she is not the true winner of this election. Hillary’s the Queen clinging to her crown, while outside her window Bernie prances about, surrounded by happy woodland creatures and chirpy little songbirds, sprinkling his fairy dust on everyone.
At this point, I’ve moved past the furious stepmother phase of my reaction to this election cycle…or at least I hope I have…and, while not enthusiastic for him, I’m glad for how excited the people in my life are about Bernie. Not being excited about Bernie when you live in Portland is a little bit like being the only sober person at one of those parties where all your other friends are high on something, but that’s okay. It might not be fun at first, but then you let go and roll with it, and learn to accept the meandering philosophical discussions and the random crying bouts.
As for me, I’ll keep skulking in the shadows, rooting against all odds for Queen Hillary to become President…and maybe even more than that…
“What are we doing tonight, Your Highness?”
“What we do every night…try to take over the world!”

I’m still right there with you! It’s a crazy feeling. We know we are backing the right candidate, but we still love Bernie. Even among my older Liberal friends there’s this feeling of bouyancy when we discuss the Bern.

And I do understand the Bern excitement! I just don’t feel it the way most people around me do right now. Which really makes me feel like an oddball and like I’m disconnected from something major.

I have a hard time even saying the word “excitement” regarding anything, at least not without an ironic smirk acting as a prophylactic.

I still have a little spark of excitement left in me. I’m sure it will be extinguished soon.

I shared this with my Libreak friends on Facebook.

Liberal! Not Libreak. Good heavens.

You mean Lib Freak, perhaps? I might qualify as one of those 😉

Gee, and I thought I just shot my Bernie wad back in the last topic with the comment I left 5 minutes ago.
But picking up on a thing I said there, why pick one when you can vote for both? Vote for Bernie now and vote for Hillary when your vote actually counts for something. (Because the Primaries are rigged.) This way, you can always say “Yeah, I voted for him/her” depending on what your audience wants to hear. You’re in the insurance business right? All bets covered.
But one good Star Wars reference demands another.
I prefer Yoda. The wrinkled, old, Rebel warrior with the messed up hair who doesn’t talk in well-rehearsed, focus-grouped, soundbites. He’s been on the front lines and reluctantly made a comeback…and is trying to teach the youngsters a thing or two. (Because they sure as hell need it.) The Force is so strong in this one, he’s pulled one hell of a Jedi Mind Trick on these daft young people. They actually think he could win this war when the truth is he never had half a chance.
I think Hillary comes across more like Lando Calrissian. Despite the all shady shit she did in her last job, you still naturally want to like her. She’s a friend from the past, a member of the Rebel Alliance from way back. But you can’t trust her at all!!! Once she becomes the leader of Cloud City, she will sell you out to the Dark Side and leave you out in the cold like Hans Solo, frozen in that carbonite. Oh sure, she may have regrets later. But that ain’t work a fracking shit. (Oops, just crossed my Sci-Fi streams.)
You’re welcome for the nerd-induced bump in web-traffic.

Haha, great comparison! Perhaps now that I have the Star Wars references on my blog, my friends will start reading it? (But probably not.)
