My vision for the future of women:
The alt right’s vision for the future of women:
I know we’ve been talking a lot about finding common ground…but I’m also pretty sure there’s no common ground here.

Honestly, I think this might understate the misogyny of the alt-right. Even the 1950s were too dangerously friendly to women for them. I think medieval Europe or earlier is more their model.

Or even worse. A lot of the alt righters consider themselves old-style European Odin-worshipping pagans…so they might be trying to take us all the way back to Viking days.

Some people are not capable of change. The extreme right which advocates bigotry, discrimination, degradation of women and the list goes on are not worth any efforts to reason with them. Don’t waste your time or your breath. Breitbart heads the list but much of Fox is not far behind.

Great juxtaposition. Distressing, but apt.

Thank you! Most everything about the last couple of months has been distressing, but we need to keep speaking out about it.

Sadly, nobody is in the kitchen anymore. Everybody is eating out and microwaving junk food. And the nation’s empty wallets and extra-large belts are living proof of the downside.
I don’t care what kind of crotch-payload is attached to the person in the kitchen. I just think society is worse off for not having somebody there.

You are probably correct about that. I wish I enjoyed cooking more. No matter how often I hear theories posited about how cooking is some great creative/scientific experiment, whenever I do it, it still just feels like a chore. Forget feminism…I need a housewife!

We ALL need a (willing) housewife.
Feminine Mystique, or not, women did a pretty good job at it (willing or mandated) until recently. But nowadays, it’s all about dat paper, boy! Fuck child rearing! Let the Interwebs do it. The only job that matters is one with a salary attached, even a shitty min-wage one that barely pays for your daily commute. Yet somehow, even though we’ve doubled the number of incomes in an average family, families seem to have less money than back in the Single Income days. Funny dat.
I really miss Home Economics. The skills those classes taught are invaluable and sorrily lacking in today’s society. I almost took Home Ec myself in the last-ish year the school offered it. In retrospect, I wish I did. I’d have learned how to cook my own damn meals. I’d have had more money and be in better health. I might even be able to darn the holes in my socks, or knit myself a touque…That and being the only dude in class…I absolutely would have scored!
But after watching enough PBS cooking shows, I’m actually starting to get the whole “cooking” thing. So, it’s never too late.

Oof, I was awful at home economics (in 1980s Poland, the girls were still required to take it). It was my worst class. I wish I could’ve found some willing guy to substitute for me, hahahaha.
Good pay or not–and I don’t get paid all that fabulously–my job is still way more interesting to me than homemaking.
